Love is in the air across the District this weekend, and there’s much to do all along the Main Streets! Read on to find out where you can shop local artisans, give back to your community, and support the arts all weekend long.

Columbia Heights Main Street

Gala Theatre (3333 14th St NW)

Support the arts this weekend at Gala Theatre. The Columbia Heights-based theatre company’s latest production. La Casa de la Laguna (The House on the Lagoon) is an adaptation of the novel by the same name from renowned author Rosario Ferré which centers around a woman who struggles to find her artistic voice amid a constant state of flux in her marriage and the island of Puerto Rico. The play highlights the socioeconomic and racial struggles of Puerto Rico, and a woman’s fight to tell her own story in her own words. The play is in Spanish with English subtitles. Volunteer Clean-Up (1400 Park Rd NW)

This weekend is all about love – love for your community, that is! Show Columbia Heights some love and give back by joining District Cleanups at the Civic Plaza this Saturday at 11 am. Bonus: The clean-up is co-hosted by Outdoor Dates DC, so bring a hot date along, or come find the love of your life!

Lower Georgia Ave Main Street

Capitol Cider House (3930 Georgia Ave NW)

Shop a lineup of talented local artisans this Sunday 2-5 pm at Capitol Cider House’s Valentine Artisan Market. Sip on cider as you peruse the stalls for Galentine’s and Valentine’s gifts or a special treat for yourself. The event is free, but registration is requested to help vendors prepare accordingly. Mount Pleasant Main Street

Bold Fork Books (3064 Mt Pleasant St NW)

Bold Fork Books is popping up on the sidewalk this Saturday for Valentine’s Day! Stop by the Valentine’s Sidewalk Market for wine, cheese, chocolate-covered goodies, vintage wares, and house plants. The pop-up will be open 10 am-2 pm Saturday.

U Street Main Street

Ice Cream Jubilee (1407 T St NW)

This is the very last weekend to try out Ice Cream Jubilee’s Lunar New Year tasting flights! Saturday and Sunday, 2:30-8 pm, sample mini scoops of red bean almond cookie, citrus sichuan peppercorn, coconut lychee lime, roasted barley tea, matcha green tea, and thai iced tea ice cream. Tasting flights are $19 a piece and include a pint of ice cream at the end.
