Cassandra Hetherington
Main Street Director, Cleveland Park
Born in Ohio and raised in New Orleans, Cassandra Hetherington has lived in DC since 2000. She spent several years working in arts administration at Washington Performing Arts Society and The Kennedy Center while also volunteering at Community of Hope’s (COH) Columbia Heights transitional housing program for families experiencing homelessness. In 2002 she transitioned to working full time at COH as Volunteer Manager. She left COH to have a son and enrolled in the MSW program at The Catholic University of America (CUA).
After graduation from CUA, Cassandra worked for three years as a Program Coordinator at Marie Reed Elementary School for Everybody WinsDC!, and since then has devoted her time to volunteer work at Thrive DC and various D.C. public schools.
Cassandra holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from The Catholic University in Washington, DC, a Graduate Level Certificate in Nonprofit Management from George Washington University and an Undergraduate Degree in English Literature from Louisiana State University. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, exploring D.C., and listening to almost any genre of music. She and her husband live in Manor Park with their son and energetic pup.
