Anna Claire Walker
Director of Storytelling and Marketing
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Anna Claire Walker is an experienced Program Director and Artist whose passion for community building has taken her across the globe. After earning a BFA in Musical Theatre from Auburn University, she moved to Atlanta, GA and began her career as a professional actor and puppeteer.
She then moved to London, UK and earned a Master’s Degree in Applied Theatre in Communities from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where her love for community development and program directing was established. Through projects in collaboration with organizations such as Homes for Haringuey, Performing Places Bexley, Arts Council England, and Artburst UK, Anna Claire implemented programs that fostered community engagement, devised placemaking strategies, and used the arts to ignite social change.
Since returning to the states, Anna Claire has worked as an administrator and facilitator with a variety of DC arts organizations including Imagination Stage, Sitar Arts Center, and Washington Improv Theatre, and served as the Program Director for a large liberal arts camp in Freedom, Maine, where she used Applied Theatre techniques to redevelop and facilitate the organization’s Staff Training procedures.
Although her work is primarily with community engagement these days, you can still find her on the stage in her spare time. She is a proud member of the DC Musical Improv Troupe, iMusical, and performs and produces stand up comedy throughout DC!
