If you’ve been to a Chevy Chase Main Street (CCMS) event in the last few months, you’ve likely met our volunteer extraordinaire, Sheila! Sheila Katoff lives in the Chevy Chase DC community and started getting involved with CCMS after she heard a friend in Georgetown was volunteering for their local Main Street program, and she wondered if there was something similar in her own neighborhood. Jump forward 6 months and Sheila has devoted 36.5 hours volunteering for the organization, serving on the Neighborhood Strategy Council, offering her photography skills, serving on the small business grant panel, and even helping Manager Anna Claire climb up into the trees around Connecticut Ave to hang lights during the holidays.
We wanted to know what some of Sheila’s favorite dishes were around the neighborhood, as someone who has been frequenting the CCMS restaurants old and new over the years. Here’s what she told us:
- Blue44: Make sure to get the Devilled Eggs, and if you go for Brunch, you can’t go wrong with the Eastern Shore Benedict. (Blue44 is also her favorite neighborhood Burger!)
- Parthenon: the Gyro Platter is a classic that never disappoints!
- Opal: When Sheila tried this new addition to the neighborhood, she fell in love with their Lamb Pita! The tahini sauce is incredible.
- At Jetties, Sheila always goes for the Clark’s Cove sandwich with its turkey, coleslaw and sourdough!
Thank you Sheila for all you do for Chevy Chase Main Street! If you’d like to become a community volunteer like Sheila, please reach out to CCMS@districtbridges.org!
