As of Monday, June 22, DC has entered Phase Two of reopening.
We’ve put together a quick round-up of what the restaurants and bars along Lower Georgia Avenue Main Street are offering right now, including who plans to open for outdoor or indoor dining at this time. We’ll be updating this running list as changes are announced.

Open for Takeout/Delivery
Here’s The Scoop of DC (2824 Georgia Ave NW #1)—DC’s first black woman-owned ice cream shop in NW DC—offers ice cream and delicious homemade desserts. The owner of Here’s The Scoop, Karin Sellers, opened with the purpose of bringing the community together in a friendly space, providing opportunities for local bakers to feature their desserts and for young Howard University students to be motivated in a positive & nurturing work environment. They are open for takeout (3 people at a time), curbside pick-up, and delivery ($20 minimum). They also have a GoFundMe to support their young staff members who they are unable to employ during this time—local high school students and Howard University students. Dulcinea Bar & Grill (2618 Georgia Ave NW) offers delicious traditional Mexican dishes such as mole poblano, enchiladas, tacos & fajitas. They are open for takeout (pick-up) and also offer delivery through DoorDash, PostMates, Uber, and GrubHub. Visit their website to see their menu.
Salt and Pepper Grill (2632 Georgia Ave NW) serves up delicious Indian and Pakistani cuisine. They are open and currently accepting pick-up and delivery orders via their website until 9:30pm. They are also on GrubHub. Visit their website to learn more.
Harrar Coffee & Roastery (2904 Georgia Ave NW) is a local, family-owned business offering a variety of high-quality coffees. They opened their coffee shop with a single vision: to deliver outstanding coffee to our community. Every batch of coffee beans they roast is hand-crafted in their shop. While their physical store is closed right now, you can order their delicious, high-quality coffee beans online on their website. When you order, you can even select your grind type—choose from whole bean, espresso, Turkish, French press, metal filter, or paper filter.
NuVegan Café (2928 Georgia Ave NW) is DC’s top spot for vegan soul food eats. Their menu has everything you could ever want: vegan chicken drumsticks, crab cakes, mac and cheese, and more! NuVegan is currently open Monday to Saturday 12pm-8pm & Sunday 11am-7pm for pick up, carry out & online delivery. Right now, they are also offering “family meal” options for pick-up or free delivery (requires 24 hour advance notice)—large enough to serve 5-10 people! Kokeb Ethiopian Restaurant (3013 Georgia Ave NW) offers delicious Ethiopian food and has been serving Pleasant Plains since 2012. They are currently open for takeout or delivery, Monday-Friday from 5pm-11pm. You can order for pick up or delivery via their website or on Caviar and PostMates.
Homestead Food & Bev (3911 Georgia Ave NW) is a family-friendly restaurant serving locally sourced food, cider, and beer. Their dining room is closed, but they are offering dinner for pick-up every day from 3-9pm and brunch (including mimosas and bloody Mary’s) on the weekends from 12-5pm! Homestead has been doing a lot to help the community during COVID-19, including providing meals to food insecure residents in Ward 4 each Wednesday. Qualia Coffee (3917 Georgia Ave NW) is a small-batch roaster focusing on carefully sourced single-origin estate and micro-lot beans. They are continuing to roast and ship coffee daily during COVID-19 (available for purchase online). They also have their menu available for pre-order and pickup—lattes, cold brew, and more! Visit their new online ordering site to place your pick-up order.
Capitol Cider House (3930 Georgia Ave NW) is dedicated to creating and curating craft hard cider with modern flavors. They also provide a family-friendly space for friends, family, and neighbors to gather (when we’re not in the middle of a pandemic, that is). You can help them weather this storm by purchasing their ciders, empanadas, and merchandise for pick-up or delivery (anywhere in DC)—7 days a week (weekdays 4-8pm, weekends 12-8pm)—through their online store, Cider2Go.com
Tsehay Ethiopian Restaurant & Bar (3630 Georgia Ave NW) has re-opened for pick-up and delivery! In addition to their delicious food, they are also offering beer, wine, and cocktails. Colony Club (3118 Georgia Ave NW) is a cozy neighborhood café, bar, and community space offering coffee, sandwiches, cocktails, and incredible classes, workshops, live music, comedy, and more. They are currently completely closed and, as a result, many of their staff are temporarily and unexpectedly out of work for an unknown amount of time. You can support them by:
No Kisses Bar (3120 Georgia Ave NW) is a slick little cocktail bar with a groovy vibe. It’s sister to Colony Club & Sonny’s Pizza. They are currently closed, but you can support them by buying one of their cocktails from Sonny’s Pizza (details further below) or buying a gift card online.
Sonny’s Pizza (3120 Georgia Ave NW) is a neighborhood pizza joint serving up slices, whole pies, chicken and eggplant parms, meatballs, garlic knots, beer, and wine. They are offering loads of takeaway options right now to help keep them afloat during COVID-19. Proceeds go toward supporting their staff. Pick-up takes place at Sonny’s between 12-3pm on Thursdays and Fridays. You must place your order on their website ahead of time. They are offering wine, beer, and spirits plus produce, prepared foods, coffee, and more. You can grab a curated pack or build your own custom bag. Orders over $125 get a bottle of wine on the house!They also offer live, virtual baking classes—donate what you can, and learn how to bake some delicious goods.
Ana’s Salvadorian Mexican Restaurant (3211 Georgia Ave NW) serves tasty Salvadorian and Mexican food. They are best known for their delicious pupusas! They are currently open for carryout. Give them a call at (202) 280-5987 to place your order. You can view their menu on Yelp.
Heat Da Spot Coffee Lounge (3213 Georgia Ave NW) is a cozy, family-run eatery on the corner of Keefer Place. They serve delicious Ethiopian fare, along with more traditional cafe items like burgers, sandwiches, and soups. One of the most famous items on their menu is their Ethiopian-style breakfast platter. During COVID-19, they are open for delivery and takeout only. You can give them a ring at (202) 836-4719 to place your order for pick-up, or you can order delivery from GrubHub. Call Your Mother Deli (3301 Georgia Ave NW) is currently serving a limited menu of bagels, schmearz, sandwiches, cookies, and drinks (including alcohol), available for pick-up Tuesday-Sunday. You can place your order online for pick-up the next day or call them at 202-735-0760 (between between 8am-1pm). You will get a text message when your order is ready. Taste of Jamaica (3308 Georgia Ave NW) serves delicious Jamaican food. Whether you’re craving goat curry, ox tails, or jerk chicken, they have it. You can view their menu on Yelp, and give them a call at (202) 722-1999 to place an order for pick-up.
The Midlands (3333 Georgia Ave NW) is a craft beer garden with a large indoor and outdoor seating area, 22 drafts, wine, spirits, live music, free pool, fire tables, two 100″ projectors, warm pretzels, tacos and so much more! They are not opening their patio just yet, as they are taking time to prepare their staff first. They are selling food, canned beer, growlers, bottles of wine, frozen drinks, and more for pick-up to help them stay in business. Hook Hall (3400 Georgia Ave NW) is a cafe and beer garden, and the site of the year-round Park View Farmers Market. They have formed Hook Hall Helps to support restaurant and food service industry workers who may need assistance with supplies, community support, family meals, and more. Each week, they are distributing care kits and family meals to industry workers in DC. You can help support them and their efforts by:

- Donating directly to their Coronavirus Worker Relief Fund to help fund their Hook Hall Helps efforts.
Mr. Rotisserie (3501 Georgia Ave NW) sells some of the best rotisserie chicken in DC. You can even get their amazing chicken served up in a delicious pasta dish. Top Spanish Cafe & Catering (3541 Georgia Ave NW) is said to be the best Spanish food outside of Spain. They are closed right now, but are still providing catering services. You can view their menu and contact them about catering options on their website.
Shawarma Hut (3657 Georgia Ave NW) serves Pakistani style shawarma. They are currently open for takeout. They also offer delivery through DoorDash and UberEats. Learn more about their menu on their Yelp page.
Iacovelli Cafe & Liquor (3651 Georgia Ave NW) is a local cafe and liquor store offering delicious eats! The owners have been in the DC area for 20+ years collectively and have Italian, Cameroonian, and Ethiopian heritage that they bring to their store & menu. They like to compare their shop to a NYC bodega—you can get an affordable (& delicious) meal, pick up a gallon of milk, and come home with a bottle of wine or your favorite scotch all in one stop. They are open for carryout or delivery (via UberEats). Check them out for breakfast, lunch and dinner—they have delicious breakfast sandwiches (made with real eggs!), curry, and oxtail.
Fish In The Neighborhood (3601 Georgia Ave NW) is a longtime Georgia Ave eatery that serves up absolutely delicious seafood (broiled or fried) & Southern-style sides.
