Nous Bloomons is a celebration of French language and culture through song and dance. Achille grew up in Cameroon (Central West Africa). After graduating from High School, he went to France where he lived for seven years studying and playing music. He has taught French to children, and played music with various bands in the Washington area for more than 20 years. He now teaches French in an immersion school using music as a vehicle. If you want to have fun, dance, jump and sing “à tue-tête”, join us at BloomBars!

Mama Elena is a Latin Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, based in Washington, DC.  Originally from Managua, Nicaragua, Mama Elena got her start in children’s music playing guitarrón (mariachi bass) with the Latin Grammy-nominated artist Sonia de los Santos and starring in Sonia’s off-Broadway production of “Música” in 2024. In addition to performing for kids, she is leader of the bilingual Latin-folk project Elena La Fulana, is an eight-time recipient of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Artist Fellowship, has been nominated for two Wammie Awards, and was part of the Washington City Paper’s People Issue 2017. From 2018-2023 Elena toured with the Latin Grammy-winning band Flor de Toloache with whom she received a Latin Grammy nomination in 2022.

The Science Pirates’ Alchemy Show – Musical Theater for Kids & Families

Come join the Whyrates on their voyage to discover the wonders of science! Crewed by pirate musician “Sage O’Silver” (Sage Snider) and science teacher “Juarez M’Gold” (Kevin Pereira), the Whyrates use fiddle, comedy, puppetry, and experiments to get your child singing and dancing like a pirate while learning along the way. 

In this 45-minute interactive show, they’ll use art and science to find treasure in the world around them.The Whyrates are a dynamic pirate duo on a mission to bring wonder back to science—and swashbuckling fun to all! Featuring science-savvy Juarez M’Gold and fiddling virtuoso Sage O’Silver, they get kids singing, dancing, and discovering the magic of the high seas. Their interactive shows can be pure pirate musical fun, educational science adventures, or anything in-between. With different themed shows available, they’ll tailor the experience to fit the venue—whether that means launching fire, mixing potions, or just keeping everyone entertained from bow to stern! $15 suggested donation per child.

Spanish Playtime for Kids and Families w/ Maria-ines

Sundays at Noon at BloomBars (Weekly Program)

Join us Maria-ines as we sing, dance, and play together! Using inspiration from children’s literature, music, stories and creative movement, we will play and create together in a fun and easy way. These sessions are child and family centered. Come ready to explore, move and be moved.

Maria-innes began working with children while living in San Francisco where she earned her Montessori Teaching certificate. Currently Maria works as a teaching artist for different arts organizations in the area. Having grown up both in Washington DC and Argentina, Maria is a native speaker and conducts classes in both English and Spanish.

Unete mientras cantamos, bailamos y los divertimos juntos! Usando inspiración de literatura de niños, musica, historias y movimiento creativo, vamos a jugar y crear juntos en una forma simple e orgánica. Estas sesiones están enfocadas/centradas hacia familias y niños. Ven listos para moverse y emocionarse.

Maria-ines empezó a trabajar con niños mientras vivía en San Francisco adonde estudio el currículo de Montessori. Ella trabaja con diferentes organizaciones de arte en el area. Criada en Washington.
