Logan Circle Main Street Manager Michele Molotsky shares her thoughts on brunch and her recommendations around Logan Circle in celebration of National Brunch Month!

April is National Brunch Month!

I’m not a morning person and would happily sleep until 10 a.m. and then gradually consider food, making brunch the best time to eat IMO.

I do have friends who sometimes make me get up early and do things like run or bike.  Then, brunch is the best reward for being virtuous.

And I love brunch foods.  I do try to eat fruits and vegetables during the day but they just don’t appeal to me as breakfast food (except for potatoes in hash browns or orange juice in a mimosa).

Brunch at Bar Pilar

Brunch is comfort food on a comfort day.  It’s been scientifically proven by Madelyn Bucher from American University.  Her formula is food + the company we keep + a good environment = happiness.  I agree!

Virtuous Brunch:  If I’ve had a run or done something to earn calories, I head over to Commissary for a Bagel B.E.L.T (Bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato) on an everything bagel.

I haven’t been to our new Call Your Mother but have been to their Parkview location.  I love their Boca Club with whitefish salad, bacon and greens.

If I’ve completed a race, I head over to Ted’s Bulletin as I love their T.U.B.S. (Ted’s Ultimate Breakfast Sammy:  applewood bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, griddled toast, hash browns).  Then, of course, a Ted’s Tart.

Gal Pal Brunch:  One place I can get all my friends to agree to go to is Logan Tavern.  On a recent visit, I had the Garden Benedict.

Another place I’ve gone with the girls is Bar Pilar.  My choices there are the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta pancakes and their lovely cocktails.

Also, Cork Wine Bar & Market has a lovely brunch and I can get a cup of tea from Le Palais de Thés and pretend I’m in Paris.

Dim Sum spread at Da Hong Pao

This traveling reference reminds me of trips to Hong Kong, which of course includes dim sum. The best dim sum in DC, IMHO is Da Hong Pao.

This is just a highlight of some of my favorites.  It’s hard to leave anyone out because we have so many great places in Logan Circle.

Let me know what your picks are in the comments below.  Between April 1-25, 2022, take a selfie of you and your friends at brunch, post it to Instagram and tag @LoganCircleMS.  You’ll be entered to win a $25 gift certificate you can use at your next brunch!
